“Would the Doctor please come to the Diary Room?”
It seems that they have all been transported to a place where all future reality shows are produced, the only difference with these ones is that if you lose on these you are eliminated – for good (could this be our real future viewing??)
The Doctor teams up with one of the housemates and manages to escape (it seems someone/something wants to keep him alive) and quickly realizes where they are: Satellite 5, only this time 100 years after their last visit with the Jagrafess.
Rose is in the middle of the game of her life when she realizes that something is very wrong, and that maybe they didn’t just get beamed into the program by accident or at random, but because of the name of the corporation: Bad Wolf.
The Doctor soon realises the same then when his new friend tells him who is running things, Bad Wolf Corporation, and he’s like “[insert expletive]!!”
Something has gone horribly wrong with Earth’s development, was it the Doctor’s fault? It seems that there is something far more sinister afoot….
The Doctor and Jack ( who narrowly escaped a full facelift by producing a gun from his…ummmm…..) race to try and save Rose, but it is too late, she has been ‘eliminated’ as the Weakest Link…
Jack disappears and eventually finds the TARDIS. He quickly figures out that they don’t kill the contestants at all…they are transported…Rose is still alive!!!
The Doctor goes up to Floor 500 where he sees the whole ‘machine’ is hooked up to a person, the ‘Controller’ (who somewhat resembles the future tellers from the Minority Report). Her ‘Masters’ have been controlling the whole thing, shaping the world…
Rose is slowly awoken by familiar sounds, and a lens…a sink plunger gives the game away..half a million Daleks have surrounding Satellite 5.
DOCTOR: I’m going to save Rose Tyler from the middle of the Dalek fleet. And then I’m going to save the Earth, and then, just to finish off, I’m going to wipe every last stinking Dalek out of the sky!
DALEK: But you have no weapons, no defences, no plan.
DOCTOR: Yeah. And doesn’t that scare you to death.
DALEKS: Begin the invasion of Earth! The Doctor will be exterminated Exterminate! Exterminate! Exterminate! Exterminate! Exterminate!
Is this RTD’s vision of future television? Eeks…lol Another amazing two-parter with a truly cliff-hanger ending. How will they stop the Dalek’s this time? And what exactly is Bad Wolf?
SPOILERS: I know that the next episode see’s the end of Chris Eccelston as the Doctor and I am sad that he didn’t continue…it wouldv’e been interesting to see how his version progressed.
I loved this episode and love seeing the Daleks again (my childhood phobia of these creatures is now gone).
